What was the ancient name of Shaoyang, Hunan?
Shaoyang was called Baoqing in ancient times. Shaoyang has a long history. This is an ancient city with a history of more than two thousand years. There has always been a saying in Hunan: "Baoqing is made of iron, Yiyang is made of silver, and Changsha is made of paper". And "Baoqing made of iron" refers to Shaoyang. This good name appeared in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in the Qing Dynasty. Wing king Shi Dakai led hundreds of thousands of Taiping rebels to besiege Baoqing. At that time, Zuo and his thirty thousand people were guarding the city. As a result, the Taiping Army besieged Baoqing City in March, but there was still no way. Shi Dakai can only look to the city and lament "Baoqing made of iron", but in the end, he can only give up the besieged city and move to Sichuan. Since then, Baoqing has become famous.
