Chongming Island is located at the center of the Yangtze River estuary and the eastern coast of China, at the intersection of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway and the Shanghai-centered Gold Coast, connecting the Yangtze River coast 18 provinces and cities with the Pacific Ocean outside. There are more than 40 kilometers of deep-water coastline along the southern edge of the island, which has good conditions for port construction.

Chongming Island is also the largest sand island in the world. Chongming Island is long and narrow, shaped like a spring silkworm. It borders the vast East China Sea in the east, the Yangtze River in the west, Qidong and Haimen in the north and Shanghai in the south. It belongs to the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River. It is the third largest island in China after Taiwan Province Province and Hainan Island.

Chongming Island surfaced in 6 18 with a history of over 300 years. Because the Yangtze River carries a lot of silt, Chongming Island extends to the East China Sea at the speed of 1.43 meters every year, increasing the land by about 487 hectares.

Chongming Island has slight air pollution and relatively clean water and land. In addition, the climate belongs to the north subtropical zone, with moderate temperature, four distinct seasons and abundant sunshine, which is beneficial to the growth of various crops. Chongming Island has many famous, excellent, special and rare products, such as noodle fish, anchovies, eels, prawns, white goats, golden melons, sweet corn, asparagus, edible fungi and Chongming Chinese cabbage. Countless migratory birds come to the island to live and feed. Chongming Island has become a key protected area for migratory birds in China.

Chongming County is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, bordering the East China Sea in the east, facing Pudong New Area, Baoshan District and Taicang City in Jiangsu Province in the south, and separated from Haimen City and Qidong City in Jiangsu Province in the north by water. Total area 14 1 1 km2.
