The development history of field research
In the history of anthropology, Malinowski was regarded as an epoch-making figure, because his years of "field" work experience in the western Pacific liberated anthropology from the easy chair and became the most attractive subject at that time.

From then on, all people who want to make achievements in the field of anthropology plan to go to the "field" and stay there for a long time, so as to explore local knowledge, reflect on their own culture and understand the whole human culture more clearly. Practitioners of structural anthropology must undergo rigorous training in field investigation, which has always been an academic tradition that anthropology is proud of.

In the 20th century, the emphasis on intensive field work became the most striking feature of anthropology. To say that a person has "no field" or "insufficient field" is to criticize that person as an unqualified anthropologist, which also means that his works do not have professional trust.
