The Historical Traceability of Guandu Ancient Town
Miaozhan Temple, the first of the six temples in Guandu, was founded in the 27th year of Yuan Dynasty (1290) and completed in 1295. Later, it collapsed due to the flood and moved to the center of the existing ancient town on 1325. There are two 13-story solid square brick towers in the east and west of the temple. Later, the West Tower was destroyed by an earthquake, while the East Tower remains today. Of course, the most famous and striking religious building in Guandu Ancient Town is the King Kong Throne Tower in front of the national key cultural relics protection unit Temple Zhan.

When the temple was rebuilt in the second year of the Shunning reign tomorrow (1457), "it is a rule to rebuild the floating picture in front of the temple", and this "floating picture rule" is the King Kong throne tower. The initiator of the King Kong Throne Tower is Dr. Tejin Ronglu, the chief soldier guarding Yunnan, and the funder is Luo Xuan, the eunuch guarding Yunnan. They were all leading figures who ruled Yunnan at that time. The purpose of building the new stone pagoda is to make meritorious service, prolong life, conform to customs, stabilize people's hearts and cure it. The term "following the customs and stabilizing the people's hearts" here means that there is a screw monster in folklore, so building a tower makes waves. Among the more than ten existing King Kong Pagodas in China, the King Kong Pagodas in Miaozhan Temple is the oldest one with the earliest construction time. This King Kong Pagoda, which is in harmony with the two brick pagodas under the eaves of Miaozhan Temple, not only embodies the Buddhist spirit of "maximum tolerance" and "simultaneous display of density", but also has a high degree of patchwork and spectacular layout, which constitutes the core of guandu town's ancient architectural complex.

The King Kong Throne Pagoda was originally a memorial tower at Sakyamuni Buddha's Daoism on the Kayenilian Zen River in India, and it was named "Gaya Buddha Pagoda". Also known as "Tancheng", that is, "altar". There is a small square tower in every corner of the tower foundation, guarding a tall conical tower in the middle. The five towers represent Five Dhyani Buddhas, the big tower in the middle represents Tathagata, and the surrounding buildings clockwise represent Tathagata Acheng, Tathagata Baosheng, Tathagata Tommy and Tathagata Empty respectively.

Guandu King Kong Throne Tower consists of two parts: the base and the tower body. The plane of the base is square, with a side length of10.4m and a height of 4.7m. The bottom of the base spans the air, and there are four ticket gates connecting the east, west, north and south for pedestrians, cars and horses to pass. On the pedestal, five towers stand. The center has a 16-meter-high main tower with 8.84-meter-high small towers at the four corners. The main tower is magnificent, and the small tower is small and exquisite. The main tower and small tower are composed of sumeru, tower body, tower neck and tower brake, but their styles are different. The large and small towers set each other off in perfect harmony. Tall and handsome Tasha mushroomed, scrambling to break through the ground, with a light and beautiful image and a flying aesthetic feeling.

Guandu King Kong Throne Tower is not only elegant in overall conception, but also full of thoughts and reverie. Detailed bronze stone carvings are also very beautiful. Whether it is the image of five mounts on the main tower, the King Kong Hercules in the four corners, or the Buddha statue in the niche, the sculptor is extremely exquisite and lifelike. The four heavenly kings, the sword, the pipa, the pearl umbrella, the fox and the sable, on the copper umbrella cover, and the bronze and gold wheel with nine Buddha statues embedded in the center of the top of the tower foundation across the air are also beautifully carved, showing superb craftsmanship. Guandu is the landing place for Tibetan Buddhism to enter Kunming. The building of the stone pagoda of Miaozhan Temple has left a deep impression on the tantric pagoda in Tibet, which is clearly reflected in the tower building of the Lama Temple. Later, the towers of Dazhengjue Temple, Biyun Temple and Ciyun Temple in Huhhot were all typical multi-storey dense eaves towers in China, and the King Kong Tower of Yonghe Palace was just an example in China.

Guandu King Kong Throne Tower is saturated with the light of religious culture and the poetic meaning of architectural art, giving people spiritual edification and beautiful enjoyment. Up to now, we can't know who designed and built this exquisite artistic masterpiece. The history books only record the names of the officials who initiated and donated money, but this stone pagoda with eternal artistic value will always be a monument to their wisdom and talent in the hearts of future generations.

In the Yuan Dynasty, Guandu also established the Confucius Building, which had a far-reaching impact on the reading and writing of Guandu's children. Later, the famous scholar Wang Sixun came out here. Wang Sixun was a scholar in the forty-fifth year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1706). He is studying politics in Jiangxi. He was a teacher in Yong Zhengdi when he was young, and Emperor Kangxi gave him thousands of books. After Wang Sixun returned to his hometown, he was given a collection of books. Up to now, libraries still exist. By the Qing Dynasty, Guandu ancient town had formed a complex of "six temples, seven pavilions and eight temples" with strong cultural color within the scope of today's four villages of Luo Feng, Xiuying, Xizhuang and Shangyi. These spectacular buildings are combined with natural scenery to form a beautiful picture scroll, forming the so-called eight scenic spots in Guandu, namely, the ancient crossing of fishing lights, the overlapping of green peaks, the moonlight on the platform, the grazing of sheep in the apricot garden, the misty clouds in Lingyun, the lawn in southern Yunnan, the night language of King Kong and the written sky.

At that time, when I walked into Guandu, I saw the endless Dianchi Lake water rippling and seagulls playing with fish fat; In the vast sky, clouds are spreading and changing endlessly. Groups of wild birds are playing among the reeds by the lake, and hundreds of cypress trees in Luofeng Mountain are stacked to the top of the mountain at the foot of the mountain, layer upon layer, full of green. The bell in the temple and the sound of reading in the academy floated leisurely in the morning rain; Towering secret eaves pagoda and King Kong pagoda point to the sky, just like the master of God waving a large sum of money, praising heaven and earth and blessing the world. In the big apricot forest on the shore, the shepherd boy plays hide-and-seek and games, full of childlike joy; Tourists write poems, drink, play games and play the flute. Cars are coming and going in the market, and people are crowded. During the temple fair, not only city residents come to attend the temple fair, but also residents from neighboring counties flock to it. On the lawn clearing to the west of Gu Wu Temple, there was a sea of people, and it was very lively, which was far from the ordinary market at that time. At night, a string of red lanterns rose from the ferry lighthouse, leading official ships and fishing boats to come slowly; In the moonlight season, Yuntai Palace is reflected in the pool with clear water like a mirror all the year round, the breeze blows and the palace shadow ripples; On the King Kong Bridge, there was an occasional whisper of King Kong. However, with the passage of time, the shoreline of the lake gradually recedes, and the natural landscape of Guandu has undergone great changes. Old temple buildings are getting old and dilapidated, and some of them have even been demolished. The famous King Kong throne tower also sank more than one meter, forming a huge pit. In April of 200 1 year, the cultural relics rescue project of Guandu ancient town was started. After more than two years' efforts, governments at all levels have invested huge sums of money to upgrade the 1350-ton King Kong throne tower by 2.4 meters, rebuild the Temple Zhan Hall and the West Tower, and restore the ancient buildings such as Confucius Temple, Wu Temple, Gifu Temple, Huozhuo Temple, Tuzhu Temple, Kannonji, and Upper and Lower Attics. Traditional houses in the town are also being renovated in a planned way. At the same time, folk cultural activities and traditional snacks are gradually restored, and the protection of the natural ecological environment is also being planned. We have seen an old and young new Guandu, which is associated with a long and splendid history and a brilliant future.
