Taiyuan Ancient County is located in Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province.

Founded in the eighth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1375), it covers an area of about 0.8 square kilometers. There are many historical buildings in the city, the pattern of cross streets is clear, and the texture of streets and lanes is perfect. It follows the pattern of ancient buildings in Jinyang ancient city, like a phoenix with its head north and tail south. Known as "Phoenix City" since ancient times, it is a continuation of the context of Jinyang ancient city in 2500.

There are 79 existing cultural relics buildings in the city, and 49 historical buildings are listed as protected by Taiyuan Municipal Government. Among them, the Confucian Temple is listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
