Jiangsu, referred to as "Su" for short, is the provincial administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC) (China). By May of 20 18, there were 13 prefecture-level cities, 22 county-level cities, 19 counties, 55 municipal districts and 8 15 townships in Jiangsu Province. These counties (cities) include Kunshan, Taixing and Shuyang.
The development of history
1949 On April 23rd, China People's Liberation Army crossed the river and Nanjing was liberated. 1June, 949, the whole territory of Jiangsu was liberated, and three provincial-level administrative regions, namely, northern Jiangsu, southern Jiangsu and Nanjing municipality, were established.
1952, in order to better control Hongze Lake, Xuyi County and Sihong County of Anhui Province were placed under Jiangsu Province. In exchange, Xiaoxian County and Dangshan County were assigned to Anhui Province.
1953 65438+ 10, the administrative regions of northern and southern Jiangsu merged with Nanjing municipality directly under the central government, and Nanjing was reduced to a provincial municipality with its capital in Nanjing. Jiangsu Province has jurisdiction over 6 provincial cities (Nanjing, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changzhou, Suzhou and Nantong), 8 special zones (Xuzhou, Huaiyin, Yancheng, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Suzhou, Songjiang and Nantong), 69 counties and 6 county-level cities.
1March 1958 to1June 1959, nine counties in Songjiang District of Jiangsu Province (Shanghai, Jiading, Baoshan, Songjiang, Jinshan, Chuansha, Nanhui, Fengxian and Qingpu) and Chongming County in Nantong District were successively placed under the jurisdiction of Shanghai, and Songjiang District was revoked. Since then, the area of Shanghai has expanded by 10 times.
