The channelization project of the Wohe River began in 1960s, and the Mengcheng Gate was completed in 1960. The lowest control water level of the sluice is 23.0m, the normal water level is 27. 1m, and the backwater can reach Yang Guo. However, because agricultural water is given priority in Wohe River, the channelized reach is still shallow. Only Mengcheng to Huaiyuan, 20 shoals in dry season, only 5- 10 tons of timber can be navigable.
