When was the electric light invented?
I think my relatives are familiar with the name Edison. After all, he has been active in our primary school textbooks, studying his famous sayings.

Most importantly, historical stories tell us that Edison invented the electric light bulb.

But in fact, was the light bulb really invented by Edison?

According to historical stories, Edison made the world's first electric light bulb with carbonized cotton thread as filament after thousands of experiments in his laboratory from 1879 to 2 1 year.

This light bulb emits about 10 kerosene lamp, which makes people really see the world in the dark.

So the name Edison is associated with light bulbs.

But is this story true? Unfortunately, this story is just a story, not true.

In fact, as early as 180 1, a British chemist named David completed the electrification of platinum wire. Nine years later, he invented the electric candle, which uses the arc between two carbon rods to complete the lighting.

Of course, according to the lighting logic of "light bulb", this is not a real light bulb.

So we pulled the timeline to 1854. American scientist Goebbels used carbonized bamboo filaments and put them in vacuum glass bottles for electricity and light. At that time, the light bulb of Goebbels' experiment could shine continuously for 400 hours.

This is the first real light bulb in history, but Goebbels didn't apply for a patent at that time.

1874, two Canadian electricians invented a technology. They filled the glass bubble with nitrogen to make the charged carbon rod glow, which is equivalent to pushing Goebbels' technology forward.

If nothing happens, these two people will be the first inventors of the light bulb. Unfortunately, they lacked follow-up funds at that time, that is, they had no money. Doing scientific research itself is a super expensive thing, so they sold this technology to Edison, whom we know well, at 1875.

After Edison got this technology, he began to study light bulbs. Unfortunately, Edison was too slow.

Although the molding technology was obtained, in 1878, an Englishman named Wilson also completed the "light bulb powered by carbon wire in vacuum" and immediately applied for a patent.

In the second year, Edison finally discovered the material of carbonized cotton silk after thousands of studies. He was very excited and thought that he had led mankind to take a big step to the new world.

But what he didn't know was that as early as 1860, Wilson discovered that carbonized cotton silk could be used as a filament.

1880, Edison once again found that carbonized bamboo silk was better than carbonized cotton silk, but Wilson actually discovered this in 1854.

It can be seen that Wilson was actually twenty or thirty years earlier than Edison, which Edison did not know.
