First, the basic introduction of Nu Wa
Nu Wa is not only the goddess who helps save the world, but also the god of nature who creates all things. Therefore, she is called the mother of the earth and is widely and long worshipped by the people.
Second, an overview of Nu Wa
Based on archaeological remains, relics and painted pottery patterns, Nu Wa provided information about prehistoric people's struggle against floods and life impressions of reproductive worship. The historical and cultural roots lie in the inheritance of the concept of female worship in the primitive matriarchal society.
There are also titles such as Wa Huang, Ling Wa, Di Wa, Feng Huang, Nu Yin, Queen, Nu Wa, Nu Wa, Goddess, Yin Di, Yin Di and Emperor Nv. It is the mother of the earth in ancient legends.
One said that her name is Feng Richi (or offering sacrifices to the Phoenix), and she is an ancient goddess in China's historical myths and legends who helped everything and created great creatures. According to legend, she is the mother of the Chinese nation, who created life and bravely took care of creatures from natural disasters. She is the creator and mother god who has been widely worshipped for a long time. She has magical power and can create at least seventy things every day.
Legend has it that Nu Wa took loess as a model and created human beings and human society. There is also a legend in "Goddess of mending the sky", that is, a catastrophic disaster happened in nature, the sky collapsed, and raptors and beasts came out to harm the people. Nu Wa smelted five-color stones to fill the sky, killed the evil beast Raptor, re-established the Quadrupole Tianzhu, and leveled the world. In addition, it is said that Nu Wa made some musical instruments called sheng, harps and feathers, so people called Nu Wa the goddess of music. In the records, she established a marriage system for human beings, which enabled young men and women to marry each other and reproduce, so she was also called the goddess of marriage.
Under the ancient patriarchal clan system, patriarchy, husband power and male power became the three mountain shackles that firmly suppressed the development of the myth of Nu Wa, splitting it into three types:
1. As the ancient holy king and the ancestor of the Terran, Nu Wa sacrificed to the Virgin: affirming her status as the mother of mankind and the mother of the earth, Huang San;
2. Nu Wa, as the goddess of blessing the country and mending the sky, can be worshipped and should be recognized as Fuxi's (and the next heir's) sister and mending the sky.
3. Sacrifice all the positions of the gods of Nuwa: it is the image of the gods before creation.
Third, the historical legend of Nu Wa.
In the myth of Nu Wa, a series of achievements, from the initial transformation of Nu Wa into a god, to the transformation of all things by Nu Wa, and then to the creation of man by Nu Wa, are all carried out in the state of opposition between heaven and earth. Nu Wa used to be in a state of lawlessness, no land and no people. From the birth of Nu Wa, she first became a god, and the appearance of God led to the birth of heaven. Then Nu Wa incarnated everything, and then everything appeared, and the earth also appeared. At this time, the world is at peace.
According to the records of Nu Wa in the Qin and Han Dynasties, such as Shan Hai Jing Ye Xi Jing, Chu Ci Tian Wen, Shuo Wen Jie Zi, we can see that Nu Wa turned into everything and became a protoss, which is consistent with the view that after the ancient gods fell in the world's creation myths, the body organs turned into everything (with the gods). Since the later Pangu myth and other minority creation myths also contained the content of the metaplasia of all things and gods, this affirmation also increased its reliability. Comparing Nu Wa with the ancient creation myths recorded in other countries, in fact, this description indicates the beginning of creation. Before all things, the material God used to create could only be his own body.
Scholars have come to some conclusions by studying the ancient books such as Shan Hai Jing, Huai Nan Zi, Chu Ci, Customs, Zhu, Historical Records and Taiping Magnolia. It is believed that the most outstanding achievements of Nu Wa, one of the mythological figures, are "making people unearthed" and "refining stones to make up the sky", but one thing is often overlooked, that is, Nu Wa, reflected in folk myths and legends, is the creator of all things in the world.
In many places in China, there are legends that Nu Wa made chickens on the first day of the first month, dogs on the second day, pigs on the third day, sheep on the fourth day, cows on the fifth day, horses on the sixth day and people on the seventh day. Some living myths also say that Nu Wa's body has turned into land, her bones into mountains, her hair into vegetation, and her blood into rivers, just like Pangu, the great god who created the world. These living myths and legends are the continuation of ancient beliefs among the people today and deserve special attention.
The ancients believed that chickens, dogs, pigs and sheep represented the four seasons, while cows and horses represented the earth and the sky. Therefore, Ban Gu's History of Hanshu Law and Discipline only says: "Seven, four o'clock in heaven and earth, beginning of life." This is also one of the sources of calling the seventh day of the first month "People's Day". Xu Shen's Shuowen also emphasized: "Hey, the ancient holy woman, the creator of all things." In other words, Nu Wa is not only the heroine, but also the goddess who created human beings and the natural god who created all things.
According to the "Changsha Marbles Kuchu Silk Book", Nu Wa Fuxi created heaven and earth, but she was still barren, so Fuxi married Nu Wa, gave birth to four children and named everything.
