The Historical Story of Tianjin Hutong
Tianjin has always been a thoroughfare and a city of five parties, and is known as "the unparalleled land of flowers and moons in southern Hebei and the first prosperous city in northern Hebei". Therefore, food, clothing, housing and transportation, romantic wealth, are all for luxury. Tianjin Qing Dynasty poet has a poem: "Prosperity depends on clothing street." Appraisal Street, which still exists, is located in the north gate east of Hongqiao District. It used to be a place where clothes were sold, reflecting the heyday of Tianjin's clothing industry.

In the history books of Tianjin and the existing urban layout, there are traces of old commercial streets, which are estimated to be clothing streets. Yuan Shihai Yang Bian mentioned the horse's head in Yang Village. At the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the name of Matoudu was mentioned many times in Wei Zhi. Knowing the mistake, Matoudu lived in the former site of Peking University Guanqiao. It can be inferred that Matou East Street, a prosperous commercial street in Tianjinwei during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, is now the front line of Houjia Middle Street and Appraisal Street. Li Jizhen, governor of Tianjin in the Ming Dynasty, was worshipped by Tianjin people and built an ancestral temple. According to Gao, editor of Tianjin County Records of the Republic of China, Li Jizhen's ancestral temple is in Matou East Street. Lizu Temple is the Wanshou Palace in the Qing Dynasty, and now it is the North Gate East Primary School. The front door of this primary school used to be on this street (later moved to Ma Bei Road). So Matou East Street is today's clothing street. In other words, Appraisal Street is Matou East Street with a history of more than 600 years.

At the west entrance of Appraisal Street, there is an archway with the words "Fair for sale". Selling refers to the old seventy-two sellers in Tianjin, so "selling" has become synonymous with Tianjin. "Listing on the stock market" refers to the commercial market in Tianjin. Two hundred years ago, Li Ciming, a scholar in the Qing Dynasty, came to Tianjin and often visited Yuyi Street. In the Diary of Yuemaotang, he described this street as "a neat corridor" and "a few miles and two miles", which is as prosperous as "the regular gate of Suzhou". Visible its prosperity. There are all kinds of old shops in Yiping Street, including food and drink. There is a saying that "Zhao Hongyuan in Yiping Street spends 10,000 yuan for a meal". Most of the old "Badacheng" hotels in Tianjin (big hotels with the word "Cheng" in eight brands, such as "Juchengcheng") are located in Laojia Hutong or Houjia. Another example is Fan Yonghe, the oldest grocery store in Tianjin, and Darentang in Kyoto. Old fur mat shops are all in the clothing evaluation street. The west entrance faces Laowu Jiazi cigarette shop, and it will be set at 1644 at the latest.
