After the "September 18th Incident", Japanese puppet troops invaded Jehol province of China and occupied Chahar province. General Feng Yuxiang contacted patriotic generals such as Ji Hongchang and Fang Zhenwu. With the support of China's * * * production party, in May of that year, he organized and established more than 10,000 Chasui anti-Japanese allied forces in Zhangjiakou, and bashed the Japanese puppet troops head-on, recovering Changbao, Guyuan and Duolun, thus hitting the arrogance of the Japanese army. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek still adopted the policy of non-resistance, sent troops to besiege Zhangjiakou and dissolved the allied forces. Feng Yuxiang lived in seclusion in Mount Tai in August of that year under the threat of Chiang Kai-shek. Although Feng Yuxiang lived in seclusion in Mount Tai as a vegetarian, he was obsessed with resisting Japan and saving the country. Shandong pancakes are the daily staple food of Taishan people, and there are always pancakes on Feng Yuxiang's table. For convenience, his kitchen also has a stove, and he can spread his own pancakes. One day, he went to the kitchen to pay New Year's greetings to the cook, and saw that the scorch marks on the burnt pancakes looked like words. Moved by this scene, he immediately sent someone to the blacksmith's shop to order a hammer for spreading pancakes, and asked the blacksmith to chisel out the four official words he had written in the middle of the hammer to resist Japan and save the country. After finishing, the pancakes spread out in the kitchen really showed the four characters of "resisting Japan and saving the country" in the middle. From then on, Feng Yuxiang put this pancake on all the guests to promote anti-Japanese and national salvation.
During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Feng Yuxiang held an important position in military and political affairs, traveling around the country and entertaining guests. For example, Lao She, Guo Moruo, Jian Bozan and others not only tasted it, but also took it back as a souvenir, calling it "Feng Yuxiang Pancake". When Feng Yuxiang was in Taian, he observed people's feelings everywhere. He often went to Sanyangguan on the mountain from Zhao Pu Temple to eat pancakes, and became interested in pancakes. So he wrote a book "Pancakes-War Food", which introduced the making method and nutritional value of pancakes in detail. 1937 after the lugouqiao incident, he gave this book to Chiang kai-shek, hoping to solve the problem of food supply for the troops in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and China. In fact, in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, Shandong pancakes really played a great role.
Pancakes are really known to most people, mainly because of some excellent movies about War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the Liberation War, such as Yimeng, Six Sisters of Yimeng, Going South, Sister Hong, Red Sun, Hero Meng Lianggu, etc. Among them, Yu Baozhen and other "Sister Yimeng" baked pancakes for frontline soldiers to fill military food, which made people all over China know about Yimeng pancakes.
