How do archaeologists date geology and antiquities? Can you describe its principle and method in detail?
Identifying geological age is not the most important content of archaeology. Archaeological age can be divided into two parts-prehistoric period and historical period. Prehistory is an era without words, and there is no literature to verify it, so its dating mainly depends on scientific and technological means, which has been answered in detail upstairs. Historical periods can be textual researched, and this part needs the help of documents and the shape and inscription of unearthed objects to determine the age. There are many materials available for archaeological dating in historical period, such as the evolution of characters, the evolution of melody, the dating of bronze mirrors and so on. Archaeological excavation must abide by strict regulations and must be excavated layer by layer, that is, starting from the surface and digging down layer by layer. The soil must be piled up layer by layer, so the age of the soil we dug first is relatively late, and the earlier we go down, this is what archaeology calls stratigraphy. This is also one of the basis for judging the relationship. The other basis is called typology, which is similar to plant taxonomy, that is, classifying and ordering the same kind of utensils. For example, there are cans in the map of 1, 2 and 3 layers. We can arrange their development order according to the evolution of the cylinder itself, the cylinder "neck" and the cylinder "abdomen", which is also one of the bases for archaeological staging.
