Historical Evolution of Zhangye National Wetland Park
In the thousands of years of integration between human beings and Heihe wetland, it has left rich spiritual wealth and formed a profound foundation of a national historical and cultural city. According to Shan Hai Jing, Heihe River is the territory of the Queen Mother of the West. In the Spring and Autumn Period, a big lake from Heihe to Juyanze was listed as a famous lake in the documents of Yugong and Zhou Li, and it was called "West Sea". In the long river of historical development, Zhangye, with its superior geographical position in the middle section of the Silk Road, has become an important town where Chinese and Western cultures meet. This fertile land has left rich and diverse historical and cultural relics, such as the Great Buddha Temple, the historical city Heishui Country, the wooden pagoda in Sui Dynasty, the bell tower in Tang Dynasty, the granary in Ming Dynasty and Company commanders mansion in Qing Dynasty, which have accumulated profound historical and cultural connotations. Historical events such as "Dayu draws weak water to stand out from the crowd", "Laozi rides a green ox into quicksand", "Zhou Muwang's voyage to the western regions", "Zhang Qian's mission to the western regions", "Huo Qubing's expedition to the west", "Emperor Yang Di holds the World Expo" and "Kelpolo lives in Ganzhou" have endowed this land with magical charm.

Zhangye, which originated from wetlands, also has a long history of farming culture. Since the Han Dynasty, agriculture in Zhangye Oasis has been at the forefront of development, and has been paid attention to by successive dynasties. In the era of Wu Zetian in Tang Dynasty, Li Hantong, the secretariat of Ganzhou, was ordered to plant rice in Ganzhou. The rice from Wujiang River in the north of the city used to be Gong Mi, which was transported to Chang 'an along the Silk Road. Zhang Ye is known as "the richest man in the world never leaves Longyou". Guo Shen, a poet in the Ming Dynasty, wrote a poem: "There are water clouds in the north of Ganzhou. Every autumn, I look at the yellow. The color of the old lotus field is beautiful, and Buron is more fragrant. " It shows the profound origin of Zhangye's farming culture.
