Huang Xu's Historical Evaluation
Huang Xu was thrifty all his life, and he was very strict with himself. Before he died, he also specifically asked to be buried with clothes. Moreover, he made meritorious service in every battle, but rarely asked for rewards. Therefore, there is a saying circulating in Cao Cao's army, "You can't do it, it belongs to Huang Xu." Huang Xu's "Be in an invincible position first, then use troops, pursue profits, and people can't eat" (The Story of the Three Kingdoms, Shu Wei and Huang Xuchuan) is unique. Huang Xu often said, "The ancients met a wise monarch, but now they are lucky to meet him. When they succeed, why should they be praised privately? " (the reflection of Shu Wei Huang Xuchuan)? Therefore, Huang Xu regarded fighting for the great cause of Cao Cao's reunification as an opportunity to fight for himself, and used it as a driving force to spur his actions. Although these understandings are branded with feudal thoughts, they also show his valuable character. He was the founding father of Cao Wei regime and an excellent military commander in ancient China.
