Cao County is a county under the jurisdiction of Heze City, Shandong Province.

Caoxian County, formerly known as Caoxian County, is located in the southwest of Shandong Province, at the junction of two provinces and eight counties in Lu Yu, with Shangqiu and Quan Min in the south, Heze and Dingtao in the north, Shanxian and Chengwu in the east and Dongming and Lankao in the west. With a total area of 1969 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 5 sub-district offices and 22 dragon towns. The resident of the county party Committee and county government is the Panshi Sub-district Office.

In the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 137 1), Cao Zhou was reduced to Cao County, and then it was restored to Cao Zhou, which is still in use today. It has successively won honors such as "Hometown of Asparagus in China", "Hometown of Paulownia Processing in China", "Top 100 Counties of Food Industry in China", "Advanced County of Greening in China Plain" and the first batch of large-scale cloned cattle experimental bases in China. Yi Yin, prime minister of Shang Dynasty, Wu Qi, strategist of Warring States Period, Fan Sheng Zhi, an agronomist of Han Dynasty, and other outstanding figures have appeared in history.

Cao County is one of the first 20 provincial-level counties in Shandong Province, and it is an open county approved by the State Council. It is the bridgehead and undertaking belt for eastern enterprises to gradually transfer to the central and western regions, and one of the eastern counties and cities of the Central Plains Economic Zone.
