Bayannaoer covers an area of 64,000 square kilometers, governs municipal districts, two counties and four banners, and has a population of 1.69 million. From Xia Shang Dynasty to Western Zhou Dynasty, ghosts, stubborn people and other nationalities were nomadic here. Until the Spring and Autumn Period, Yunzhong County of Zhao was still under the jurisdiction of Yinshan South, and ethnic groups such as Lou Fan were nomadic in Yinshan North.
Bayannur means rich lakes, with the famous fresh water lake Wuliangsuhai and many lakes, large and small. In primitive society, people lived in the northern foot of Yinshan Mountain in Bayannaoer City and lived a hunting life.
Bayannaoer City has a long history, and the splendid Hetao culture and colorful grassland civilization bear the weight of history. There are internationally renowned Bayinmandu dinosaur fossil area and Yinshan rock paintings with great archaeological value, as well as the dusty ruins of the ancient city pool and ancient temples such as the Han Group and the Great Wall of Qin and Han Dynasties. For thousands of years, it has interpreted touching historical stories such as Meng Tian's repair of the Great Wall, stationing wasteland to defend the border, and Huo Qubing's fight against Xiongnu in Hetao.
