Explanation 2: Two groups of statues are erected at the western end of Yushan Bridge, not far from the north of Yushan Park. One group is a full-length statue of Shun Di, and the other group is an elephant group statue. Both groups of statues are based on the legend of Shun Di's southern tour. According to legend, when Shun Di made his southern tour, he passed through Guilin, enjoyed the mountains and rivers in Lingnan, and domesticated elephants to cultivate for the people of Guilin.
Elephants hold their heads high and stretch their noses, or hold their heads high steadily, or roll their noses and caress the ground, or bend over. The cutest are a few lively and lovely elephants. They open a pair of ears like cattail leaf fans beside the mother elephant, and their long tender noses are like bamboo shoots sticking out of the ground in spring, waving playfully in the air. Such a herd of elephants is arranged very neatly. I don't know whether to help Dashun plow or hoe back.
