Xinpu New District was formally established in 2009. It has jurisdiction over Sandu Town, Xiazi Town, Xinzhou Town, Yongle Town, Niujiao Town, Xinpu Sub-district Office, Xinzhong Sub-district Office and Etiquette Sub-district Office, with an area of about 987 square kilometers and a total population of 400,000.

1998, xinpu town is under the jurisdiction of Honghuagang District.

On May 4, 2009, Honghuagang District designated Xinpu Town, Zunyi County designated Xinzhou Town, and Zunyi City Party Committee Working Committee and Xinpu New District Management Committee were listed.
