First of all, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period before the Three Kingdoms at the end of the Han Dynasty, there was a powerful vassal state Wei on the land of the Central Plains. Of course, as far as the Seven Heroes of the Warring States are concerned, Korea, Zhao, Qin and Qi are all or part of the territory of the Central Plains. In this regard, in my opinion, the territory of South Korea is mainly in today's Henan and Shanxi, not involving Hebei. Shaanxi and Shanxi are the main parts of Qin, Shanxi and Hebei are the main parts of Zhao, and the territory of Qi is mainly in today's Shandong. On this basis, for the heyday of Wei, it expanded to Shandong Province in the east, Shaanxi Province in the west, and also involved Shanxi, Hebei, Henan and other places. So this may also be one of the reasons why Cao Cao used "Wei" as the title, that is, Wei's radiation range was relatively wide in history.
Secondly, after the battle of Guandu, Cao Cao defeated Yuan Shao and seized the territory originally belonging to Yuan Shao, such as Jizhou. Because after Cao Cao captured Hebei, he took Yecheng as his base camp. During the Warring States Period, Yecheng was the capital of Wei. The range of Yecheng ruins includes the western part of Linzhang County, Hebei Province (sites such as Yebei City and Yan 'an City). ) and the northern suburb of Anyang City, Henan Province (Cao Cao Gaoling, etc. Qi Huangong began to build Yecheng, which belonged to Wei during the Warring States Period, with Yecheng as its capital. As a battleground for military strategists, Cao Cao expanded Yecheng after occupying it. After Cao Pi usurped the independence of Han Dynasty, although Cao Wei made Luoyang its capital, Wei took Luoyang as its capital and Chang 'an, Qiaocheng, Xuchang, Yecheng and Luoyang as its "five capitals", which shows the important position of Yecheng.
In addition, there is another reason. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was an Oracle that "the generation of the Han Dynasty is the contemporary Tugao". Yuan Shu, a warlord at the end of the Han Dynasty, once quoted this prophecy, saying that his word "highway" meant tu, which proved that he should replace the only thrill of the Han Dynasty.
Of course, after Yuan Shu proclaimed himself emperor, his followers abandoned him and were wiped out by Cao Cao. On this basis, some people explained that "Dangtugao" is "Wei Que", so Cao Cao took the title of "Wei", which not only inherited the historical tradition of Wei in the Warring States period, but also deliberately did it. Of course, the credibility of this statement is still controversial.
