The Heluo area, with Luoyang as the center, was called "Henan" in history, corresponding to "Hedong" and "Hanoi", and was the earlier political activity center of the Chinese nation. Since historical records, Xia, Shang and Luoyang have been the political centers of this region. In the Xia Dynasty, the third emperor of the Xia Dynasty, Tai Kang (son of Qi), used to pour chopsticks. This is the Erlitou site in Yanshi today.

In Shang Dynasty, Shang Tang, the founding emperor of Shang Dynasty, was the capital of Xibo, which is now the site of Xianshigougou Mall in Yanshi. During the Western Zhou Dynasty, Zhou Chengwang was the stronghold of the Duke of Zhou in Luoyi, which became the seat of Zhoucheng, the eastern capital of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and was directly subordinate to the Emperor of Zhou.
