What are the five permanent members of the United Nations?
The five permanent members of the United Nations are the United States of America, the Fifth Republic of France, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation and People's Republic of China (PRC).

According to Article 23 of the Charter of the United Nations, the Security Council consists of 15 States Members of the United Nations. People's Republic of China (PRC), France, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America should become permanent members of the Security Council.

The General Assembly should elect ten other United Nations Member States as non-permanent members of the Security Council. During the election, it is best to give full consideration to the contribution of all Member States of the United Nations to the maintenance of international peace and security and other purposes of the Organization, and to equitable geographical distribution.

Rights of permanent members of the United Nations:

The Charter of the United Nations does not explicitly stipulate the "veto power" in the relevant chapters of the Security Council, but stipulates that "any non-procedural resolution must be passed by at least 9 votes of the Security Council 15 members, and none of the five permanent members can vote against it".

That is, the veto power of permanent members is often called "exercising the veto power". The first time in the history of the United Nations to exercise the veto was in February 1946, when the Soviet Union voted against Syria and Lebanon.

Since the founding of the United Nations, most of the veto power in history has been exercised by the Soviet Union. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the United States was the country that exercised the veto most frequently.
