In August, 2002, with the approval of Hubei Provincial Department of Education, Wuchang Branch was transformed into a second-level college of Hubei University and renamed as "zhixing college of hubei university".
In April 2003, after the Ministry of Education issued the "No.8 Order", Hubei University cooperated with Hubei Tianxing Science and Education Investment Co., Ltd. to set up a board of directors and implement the dean responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors.
In February 2004, after the Ministry of Education cleaned up the independent colleges approved for trial operation in various places, zhixing college of hubei university was confirmed as an independent college meeting the requirements of Document No.8.
In February 2008, after the Ministry of Education issued the "Order No.26", the college strictly implemented the "Order No.26", and the property rights were in line with the operation of independent colleges.
On 20 14, the school was approved as the first batch of pilot universities in Hubei province for application transformation and development.
