Recommended: "Gloomy Sunday" (English: Gloomy Sunday, Hungarian: Szomorú Vasárnap), also translated as "Black Sunday", is the work of the Hungarian self-taught composer Rezs? Seress (1899-1968) composed a song in 1933. It is said that "Melancholy Sunday" was written by Reiji Shereish in a state of extreme grief after he broke up with his girlfriend. Hundreds of people took their own lives after listening to the song because of its breathtaking desperation. The song was dubbed the "Hungarian suicide song" and was even banned by internationally renowned radio stations such as the BBC. However, there are no substantial legal documents, journals, or publications to corroborate this suicide figure.
