Evaluation of the series
On February 1, 1988, the entire "Journey to the West" was put on the screen for the first time, setting a precedent for a TV series to be filmed abroad. This TV series created a mythical world full of fantasy under limited artistic and technical conditions, and vividly demonstrated the tenacious spirit of Tang Seng, his master and his disciples, who were not afraid of dangers.
The success of "Journey to the West" also benefits from the superb performance of Liu Xiaolingtong. His performance of Sun Wukong has almost become a stereotype in the hearts of the audience. The melody of the theme song "Dare to Ask Where the Road Is" also echoed in the hearts of a generation along with the broadcast of the play.
