The little rabbit was going to bed; he grabbed the big rabbit's long ears tightly and asked the big rabbit to listen to him.
"Guess how much I love you?" asked the little rabbit.
"Oh! I probably can't guess it." Big Rabbit said with a smile.
"I love you so much." The little rabbit opened his arms as wide as possible.
The big rabbit had a pair of longer arms. He opened them to compare and said, "But, I love you so much."
The little rabbit moved his right ear and thought: Well , which is really a lot.
"I love you, as high as I lift it, it can't be any higher." The little rabbit said, lifting up with both arms.
"I love you, as high as I lift you, no higher." Big Rabbit also said.
Oh, thought Little Rabbit, that’s too bad, he’s taller than me.
The little rabbit had another good idea. He stood upside down on the tree trunk and said, "I love you all the way to my toes."
The big rabbit grabbed the little rabbit. The rabbit's hand threw it up, flying higher than its head, and said: "I love you to the tips of your toes."
The little rabbit shouted: "I love you, Until I cross the path, on the far side of the river."
Big Rabbit said: "I love you, until I cross the river, on the other side of the mountain."
Little Rabbit thought, that’s really far. It rubbed its red eyes, becoming sleepy and unable to think; it looked up at the vast expanse of darkness behind the trees, feeling that nothing could be farther than the sky.
The big rabbit gently picked up the little rabbit who was yawning frequently. The Little Rabbit closed his eyes, and before falling asleep, he murmured: "I love you from here to the moon."
"Oh! So far," said the Big Rabbit, "Really, really Far, very far."
The big rabbit gently placed the little rabbit on the bed of leaves, lowered his head, kissed it, and wished it good night.
Then, the big rabbit lay next to the little rabbit and smiled softly and said: "I love you from here to the moon and back again."
