Tian Liantao, male, Han nationality. Ethnomusicologist, composer, music educator. Currently, he is a doctoral supervisor and researcher at the Central Conservatory of Music. Born in Tianjin in 1930, his ancestral home is Xiangcheng County, Henan. In 1948, he entered the School of Engineering of Nanjing Jinling University and the School of Engineering of Central University. He joined the army in 1949 and served as a team member, captain, and creator in the Art Troupe of the Political Department of the Second Field Army, the Art Troupe of the Southwest Military Region, the Southwest People's Art Troupe, and the Sichuan People's Art Theater. Graduated from the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music in 1960. From 1960 to 1984, he taught in the Art Department of the Central University for Nationalities and served as director of the teaching and research section and associate professor. Since 1984, he has taught at the Central Conservatory of Music and served as the director of the research office and deputy director of the Music Research Institute. , has been engaged in the teaching, creation and research of ethnic minority music for a long time. He has conducted field work in ethnic minority areas dozens of times and collected a large amount of first-hand information. It has trained more than 40 professionals in ethnic minority composition and ethnomusicology, including many doctoral students, master's students, and foreign students. He has presided over and completed a number of doctoral programs of the State Education Commission and minority music research projects of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
