During the Anti-Japanese War, the school anthem of Western University was composed by Tang Tiemin, then a lecturer in the Chemistry Department of Guangxi University, and the lyrics were written by President Ma Junwu. During the school's Guilin period, Principal Ma also made some changes to the lyrics of the school song based on the characteristics of the current situation. In 2008, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the school, the school anniversary publicity team collectively revised the lyrics of the school song and formed the third version of the "Guangxi University School Song".
