The original ballet began to develop based on folk dance in the Italian and French courts in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was not until the early 19th century that it developed into an independent art; however, operas after the 19th century still often included ballet. Originally, ballet music was a stylized thing written according to choreography. There is no close connection with each other. Later, composers made various reforms to ballet music, making the music subordinate to the expression of dramatic content.
