The Secondary Music School Affiliated to Xinghai Conservatory of Music is the only provincial key secondary music college in South China School. It is supervised by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

The school aims to cultivate qualified reserve students for higher music colleges and comprehensive secondary music talents, and recruits students from all over the country and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Over the past 50 years since its establishment, the school has cultivated a large number of influential and outstanding musical talents, and its graduates can be found in well-known music schools at home and abroad. The school offers piano, orchestra, folk music, vocal music, composition and other majors, among which the piano major is one of the first batch of key construction majors in Guangdong Province.

1. Basic instrumental music performance class (including orchestral instrument performance, piano performance, and Chinese musical instrument performance majors): Recruiting fifth-grade primary school students. The examination content includes professional and sight-singing and ear training. Applicants have the enrollment status of the school and the primary school they currently attend. They are day students in the first year of enrollment. They complete professional courses and professional basic courses in the school on weekends and complete the cultural courses of the sixth grade in the original primary school. The first year is a trial period. At the end of the trial period, those who meet the requirements will be directly promoted to the first grade of the school, and all majors and cultural courses will be returned to the school. Those who fail to meet the standards can register for ordinary middle schools on their own.

2. Comprehensive music education major: recruiting junior high school graduates. The examination content includes three majors (instrumental music performance, vocal music singing), sight-singing and ear training, and cultural courses (Chinese, mathematics, English). After enrolling, students will receive three years of systematic comprehensive education in music performance, music theory and cultural knowledge. After graduation, they will become compound secondary music talents with certain music performance skills and theoretical foundations.
