Hans Zimmer’s early life

Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1957. Hans Zimmer began studying piano at the age of three. When his father died when he was six years old, Hans Zimmer found sustenance in music and determined to become a composer.

In 1971, Hans Zimmer’s family moved to London, England, and later studied at Hurtwood House School. He did not receive formal music education in the future.

In 1973, he began to write advertising jingles for Air Edel Associates, and began to play keyboards and synthesizers. After working as an electronic music engineer, he mainly synthesized and mixed music works, and later began to write music.

In 1977, he collaborated with the pioneer band The Buggles and appeared in the 1979 music video "Kill the Radio Star on Video". Later, Hans Zimmer joined the Italian new wave band Krisma and produced a synthesized mix for the band's third album "Cathode Mamma".

In the 1980s, he began to collaborate with Stanley Myers, and Hans Zimmer began to enter the field of film scoring. The two jointly established Lillie Yard Studio in London. Meyers and Zimmer transformed the tradition in "Blue Moonlight", "Success is the Best Revenge" (1984), "Insignificance" (1985) and "My Beautiful Launderette" (1985). A breakthrough in combining orchestral music with electronic instruments.

In 1986, he independently performed the soundtrack for the film "Terminal Exposure" for the first time and composed all the songs for the film. In 1986, Hans Zimmer collaborated with Scottish-American musician David Byrne and Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto to create the soundtrack for "The Last Emperor" as a score producer. After that, Hans Zimmer went solo.

In 1988, after completing the soundtrack for the film "A World Apart", he was invited to score Barry Levinson's "Rain Man". "Rain Man" was Hans Zimmer's first film The soundtrack for a Hollywood movie was also his first work to be nominated for an Academy Award, and he began his career as a scorer in Hollywood.
