The craftsmanship of making Fushan cowhide drums has been widely spread in the local area as early as the Qing Dynasty. Inspired by traditional crafts, local folk craftsmen made use of the abundant buffalo resources in the local mountains and traditional leather drum making techniques. Through exploration and research, they successfully produced the distinctive Fushan cowhide drum, which has been preserved ever since. Cowhide drums were used to encourage soldiers in ancient times. Later, they were used to accompany various weddings and funerals, and became a widely circulated local music culture.
