Classification of scores

There are many forms of scores, which can be roughly divided into the following categories:

Scores for large orchestral scores, such as symphonies and concertos; sometimes also with vocal music parts, such as the scores of operas and oratorios. About A3 paper.

The pocket score is a miniature version of the large score, which is easy to carry. About 32K.

A column score is a score in which each part of a polyphonic musical work is written on a separate line of staff.

Piano score is a piano score that is an adaptation of the ensemble or chorus score, also known as abbreviated piano score. It is used for rehearsal and analysis, and is usually not used for formal performances. Sometimes also used as a synonym for vocal score.

Vocal score is a piano adaptation of the score of a large-scale vocal work (such as an opera, oratorio, cantata, etc.), also known as a shortened vocal piano score, in which each vocal part is still recorded separately in different staff, while the orchestra part is completely reduced to piano score.

There are two types of downsizing scores. ① A simplified score containing only a few lines of staves, compressed from a large ensemble or chorus work; ② When a composer creates a large-scale piece of music, he writes down the basic idea of ??the score in a few lines of staves, which the composer will use in the future. This is processed and expanded into a complete grand score.
