Conductor/Fu Renchang
Successively studied at the primary school, middle school and university affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied dulcimer, piano, composition and band conducting. In 1993, he won the championship of China's first conducting competition and later went to Germany for further studies. He studied conducting at the Berlin Academy of Arts and the Leipzig Conservatory of Music, and obtained the highest academic degree and qualification certificate in German music performance, the Master's Examination Certificate, with excellent results. He also participated in international conducting master classes from world-renowned conductors Sir Colin Davis, Panula and Pat Flo.
Over the years, he has collaborated with many symphony orchestras at home and abroad, traveling all over Europe, America, Oceania and Asia. He was highly praised and welcomed by various orchestras and local audiences. His repertoire is extensive and he has premiered many classic works by Western classical music masters in China. He has been invited to participate in music festivals at home and abroad many times and has presented many works by modern composers at home and abroad. He is particularly keen on introducing the outstanding works of Chinese composers to audiences around the world, and has made positive contributions to enhancing the influence of Chinese traditional music and modern music in the world. Fu Renchang has been employed by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Conservatory of Music. From 2005 to 2015, he was appointed as the chief conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and regularly conducts symphony concerts at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall every year. From 2005 to 2014, he conducted the Berlin New Year Concert, performing Beethoven's Choral Symphony No. 9 in this hall on New Year's Day for ten consecutive years. In addition to conducting, Fu Renchang also attaches great importance to music creation and strives to integrate modern music elements and national music elements with traditional Western composition techniques. In recent years, he has composed and arranged more than 80 orchestral and chamber music works. He premiered the opera "Norma" in China with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra; he also served as the final conductor of the Second China Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition in 2011 and 2000. In April 2004, Fu Renchang was invited by the German International Piano Competition Organizing Committee to serve as a final judge.
