Wuhan Conservatory of Music recently ranked 384th in China (comprehensive ranking data in 223).
The enrollment majors of Wuhan Conservatory of Music include recording arts, musicology theory, music performance, composition and composition technology theory, music editing and production, music education, popular vocal music singing and directing, piano performance, dance performance and national vocal music.
Wuhan Conservatory of Music is located in the ancient city of Wuchang. The old campus is located at No.255 Jiefang Road, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, and the adjacent new campus is located at No.1 Zhangzhidong Road, Wuchang District. It is one of the nine independent conservatories in China and the only independent institution of higher music in central China.
Wuhan Conservatory of Music was formerly the Zhongnan Conservatory of Music, which was established in 1953. In 1958, Zhongnan Conservatory of Music merged with Wuhan Art Teachers College to form Hubei Art College (named "Hubei Art College" from 1972 to 1978). In 1985, it was renamed Wuhan Conservatory of Music. In June 23, it was designated as one of the "humanities and social sciences bases" in Hubei Province.
The College attaches great importance to the artistic practice of teachers and students, and has established the Oriental Symphony Orchestra, the Chinese Chime Orchestra and the National Chamber Orchestra, among which the Chinese Chime Orchestra has performed in the United States, France, Hong Kong and Shanghai in cooperation with internationally renowned musicians Tan Dun and Yo-Yo Ma.
