The development history of Xi'an Conservatory of Music:

The school was founded in October 1949, the same age as the Republic of China. The Music Department of Northwest Military and Political University, formerly founded by Marshal He Long in the Shanxi-Sui border area, came into being to adapt to the strategy of liberating the great northwest and cultivate literary and artistic cadres. In 1950, it was renamed Northwest Art College, Xi'an Conservatory of Music. In 1953, it was restructured into Northwest Art College. In 1956, the school music, The two art departments were established separately, and the music department was renamed Xi'an Music College. In 1957, the entire college moved to its current location on Chang'an Middle Road, Yanta District, southern suburbs of Xi'an.

In 1960, it was officially named Xi'an Conservatory of Music. Before the reform and opening up, it was renamed Shaanxi Art College. In 1980, with the spring breeze of reform and opening up, with the approval of the State Council, the school restored the organizational structure of Xi'an Conservatory of Music.
