Sun Wenming, a China folk music erhu player, was born in Shangyu, Zhejiang. Later, due to the adoption of the Pan family, it was renamed Pan Zhiwang. On April 16th, 1928, Sun Wenming was born into a peasant family in Yutangxia Village, Shangyu. His father was first a tailor who was working as a tailor, and then he was a local doctor. When Sun Wenming was four years old, he was blinded by smallpox. When he was twelve years old, he studied erhu with his uncle, Taoist Ding Zhaocan.
