Cai Dan Zhuoma, Tibetan soprano, vice-chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, national first-class actress and vice-chairman of Xizang Autonomous Region CPPCC. Born in June 1937 to an ordinary peasant family in Shigatse, Tibet, his parents were serfs before the democratic reform in Tibet. From August to December, 1957, he studied in the preparatory school of Tibet Public College. At the end of 1958, he studied in the vocal music department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music and studied under the famous vocal educator Professor Wang Pinsu.
