The survey found that in the general population, about 1/6 people will suffer from depression at some time in their lives, while about 1/3 patients with severe depression have never received treatment. In fact, most patients with depression can be cured as long as they are treated promptly and effectively. The treatment goal of depression should be to eliminate symptoms, restore social function and prevent recurrence. At present, there are mainly the following methods to treat depression:
(1) Standard drug therapy: SSRIs, SNRIs antidepressants and tricyclic and tetracyclic drugs are generally used for comprehensive treatment.
(2) cognitive behavioral therapy: guide patients to correctly understand and change unrealistic negative ideas about themselves and the outside world, so as to relieve the symptoms of depression.
(3) Interpersonal psychotherapy and marriage and family therapy: it can improve patients' interpersonal skills and psychological adaptation function, improve patients' satisfaction with family and marriage life, thus alleviating or relieving patients' depressive symptoms, mobilizing patients' enthusiasm, correcting their bad personality, improving patients' ability to solve problems and cope with stress, promoting rehabilitation and preventing recurrence.
(4) Physical exercise: Especially vigorous aerobic exercise can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and enhance appetite, sleep, sexual interest, sexual function and self-esteem. At the same time, exercise can also make the chemical imbalance related to depression in the brain turn to normal.
(5) phototherapy: seasonal depression is caused by lack of sunshine in winter. Supplementing artificial light can successfully treat this depression. Lighting in front of a special device for half an hour every day can improve the mood of 6% ~ 8% patients with winter depression.
(6) Other therapies: such as acupuncture and music therapy. In addition, eating foods rich in vitamins B1, B6, B12, vitamin C, nicotinic acid, riboflavin, vitamin E and pantothenic acid can also play an auxiliary antidepressant role.
