What is the style of blues?

Blues is the name of a music style.

Blues (English: Blues, meaning "blue", also transliterated as blues, often translated as "resentment music" in Hong Kong and Taiwan) is a kind of vocal and instrumental music based on the pentatonic scale.

This kind of music has an obvious feature, which is that it uses a "call and response" form similar to Chinese folk songs, which is called "Call and Response" in English.

At first, the musical phrase will give people a feeling of tension, crying, and helplessness, and then the subsequent musical phrase will seem to comfort and relieve the suffering people. It’s like a suffering person crying to God, and then receiving God’s comfort and response! Therefore, blues music pays great attention to the catharsis of self-emotion and originality or improvisation.

Some music varieties:

1. Trip-hop

The rhythm slows down (sometimes very slow), and some accents are added, such as very gloomy , mellow bass, slight but psychedelic synthetic sound effects, or samples from some records. Sometimes even the noise of the records may be "deliberately" sampled.

Trip-hop is a kind of slow, psychedelic, jazz-like, hazy break beat music with a bit of hip hop rhythm. Although it belongs to the dance music category, its psychedelic characteristics have made it far away from the clear rhythmic characteristics of ordinary dance music.

2. New age

New age is a kind of quiet, comfortable and leisure music. Pure music works account for a larger proportion, while singing works account for a smaller proportion. New age can be purely acoustic (that is, played with traditional self-sounding instruments), or it can be very electronic. The focus is to create a calm atmosphere of nature or a feeling of the vastness of the universe, cleansing the listener's mind and making people feel calm.
