What is the difference between those who “persist” and those who “give up”?

"When I am almost 40, I understand a truth. If you rely on willpower to persist, you will eventually fail. What can keep you going is knowing why you persist."

Our experience We have experienced too many failures, and it is said that failure is the mother of success, but success is ignored.

No matter what era or age, we will make plans or develop habits. Running, reading, quitting smoking, losing weight... and most of these plans, I failed.

In 1990, when I was in elementary school, my parents asked me to learn the accordion. I studied the accordion for 6 years in elementary school. After school every afternoon, I studied with the teacher for 2 hours in the music classroom. But now I have long forgotten all about it.

When I was in middle school, my handwriting was terrible, so I started practicing calligraphy. I practiced for half a year, but I couldn’t finish the homework, so I gave up. The writing is still as bad as ever.

After joining the workforce, quitting smoking, running, and reading may be habits that most people want to cultivate, but none of them have been developed. The more I smoked, the more I became heavier. I bought a lot of books, but only bought them without reading them.

I once thought that I was a person with poor willpower and no self-discipline at all. So much so that I was confused for a while, going to work during the day, sleeping at night, and of course playing two games. Until one day, my wife asked me to eat, and I said: "Wait a moment, we will finish the game." This time, she was completely furious. She always finished the game. She is such an adult and has no formality. , just know how to play games. I was able to resist the pressure and finish the game. When it comes to playing games, my willpower is unique. It proves that I am not a person with poor willpower. Of course, I also made many plans, most of which ended in failure, but two were successful. One is to lose weight, and the other is to take the first-level exam.

My son went to kindergarten and participated in a sports meeting. There was an event called two-person three-legged. Because I was too fat and my body was not flexible, I fell over after taking two steps. My son’s classmates laughed and bent down. . Many parents covered their mouths and laughed. I rolled and crawled with my son across the finish line, and everyone around me was laughing. One day I went to pick up my son from school. My son said, "Dad, don't pick me up after school anymore. My classmates all laughed at me. I'd better let my mother pick me up." The pain at that time made me want to shave off the fat on my body. Be happy for your son. I had to lose weight, and it took me two years to lose 50 pounds.

If you want to be a leader in our unit and live a better life, taking the first-level construction examination (a professional qualification certificate in the field of engineering and construction) is the only way to go. No one is earning a monthly salary, but one is earning an annual salary. In 2010, I spent more than half a year reading books, refusing most social interactions. I read them over and over again. When I got tired of reading them from the front, I read them from the back, even when I went to the toilet, and before going to bed. I passed that exam in one try. I remember the pass rate that year was 4.

I found a way to success

The reason I lost weight successfully was because I felt intense pain. This pain will only disappear if I lose weight successfully

I succeeded in taking the first-level construction examination because I knew that only by passing the first-level construction examination can I earn more money to afford the mortgage and car loan.

And those failed experiences, playing the accordion, practicing calligraphy, reading books...because I don't know why I do these things. And this unknown is definitely not what you think.

I have a friend who studies art. Suddenly he wanted to learn English from me. (My wife’s English is better)

I asked him why he wanted to learn English. The other person’s answer surprised me. If he goes to a painting exhibition abroad, he needs to communicate in English. I advised him not to learn English with this purpose, as he would give up sooner or later. If you are afraid that you will not be able to support yourself by painting, becoming an English tutor is a more reliable purpose. Therefore, if you develop habits or make plans and think you have a goal, in fact, this goal is the same as having no goal.

Find your goal

Today, some people think that writing articles on the platform is a side job that can make money. Some people want to practice writing.

There is no right or wrong goal. If you haven't made any money in three months, will you still stick to it? Half a year has passed and the reading volume has not increased. Will you persist?

For me, the platform is the best output tool. I have developed the habit of reading for a while before, but why can’t I stick to it? Because reading books can’t bring about any changes in me. It’s just like playing games, it’s just killing time. So how can we bring about changes? Transform the knowledge in the book into our own abilities. After reading the book, repeating the knowledge points in our own language is the first step of transformation. So when I come here, it’s not about making money, and I don’t think about writing, it’s just about output. Just like when I took the first-level construction test, I knew that I could only make money by making myself more valuable. When you make money, you can get closer to your vision. So, I don’t need to insist because I know what I’m doing.

I am Dalei, and I change for thinking. Friends who like it, please like it. At the same time, I also hope that everyone can find their own goals and work hard.
