Song Jia was born in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, and graduated from the Performance Department of Shanghai Theater Academy with a bachelor's degree. At the age of 8, he started learning Liuqin from Yueqin player Feng Shaoxian, and attended the Middle Music School Affiliated to Shenyang Conservatory of Music in high school. In 2000, he was admitted to the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, but by chance, at the suggestion of his senior student Fan Zhibo, he applied for the Performance Department of the Shanghai Theater Academy and was admitted, thus embarking on the path of acting.

Song Jia is a handsome, smart and understanding person. I watched "Cliff" carefully, and I was very pleased with her performance. Her acting taste is very high, which is not only achieved by her skills. Among the post-80s (female) actors of the same generation, I have never seen anyone better than Song Jia (commented by Li Zhiyu, a teacher at Shanghai Opera).
