What do the quarter notes in music mean?

Quarter note means: a note with only one black dot is called a "quarter note". It's half a note smaller than a half note. Then one-half of the same equivalent quarter note is an eighth note.

And half of an eighth note is a sixteenth note. Notes are progression symbols used to record sounds of different lengths. There are note heads and stems, eighth notes and notes with smaller beats including notes.

Music notes include three components, namely note head, stem and tail. The types of notes are divided by beat, such as whole notes are four beats; half notes are two beats, etc.

A song score presents several important parts: key signature, time signature, score, and lyrics. After you understand the names of each part in the music score, you must start from the basics. First, you must understand the properties of sound: pitch, value, volume, and timbre.

Different instruments and voices are within these four properties, and the music and songs we like are produced through different changes in these four items.

What is a sound name? Music names are the names of each sound level in the musical sound system.

The current common sound name is: CDEFGAB. In addition to music names, there are also sound names such as do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, and si, which are mostly used in singing, so they are called roll call.

In addition to note names and roll calls, there are also whole tones and semitones. The smallest measurement unit of pitch relationship is called "semitone", and two semitones are called "whole tone".

What is a sound group? There are more than 80 sound groups in the musical system. In order to distinguish sounds with the same sound name but different pitches, they are grouped into small character groups and large character groups.

Sound and Pitch

Sound is produced due to the vibration of objects. Sound has four properties: pitch, strength, length, and timbre.

(1) The pitch of the sound is determined by the number of vibrations (frequency) of the object within a certain period of time. The more vibrations, the higher the sound; the less vibrations, the lower the sound.

(2) The length of the sound is determined by the difference in duration of the sound. If the duration of the sound is long, the sound will be long; if the duration of the sound is short, the sound will be short.

(3) The intensity of a sound is determined by the amplitude (amplitude of the vibration range of the sound). If the amplitude is large, the sound will be strong; if the amplitude is small, the sound will be weak.

(4) The timbre is different due to the nature and shape of the pronunciation body and the number of overtones.

Due to the regularity and irregularity of the vibration state of sound, sound is divided into two categories: musical sound and noise. Music is mainly used in musical sounds, but noise is also an indispensable component of musical performance.

Music tone system tone series tone level

(1) The sum of the sounds with fixed pitches used in music is called the musical tone system.

(2) The sounds in the musical sound system are arranged in ascending or descending order, which is called a sound sequence.

(3) Each sound in the musical sound system is called a sound level. There are basic sound levels and varying sound levels.

(4) In the musical sound system, seven sound levels with independent names are called basic sound levels.

The names of the basic sound levels are marked by letters and roll calls.

Alphabetic system: C D E F G A B

Roll-call system: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

The sound produced by the white keys on the piano is consistent with the basic tone level Compliant. The fifty-two white keys on the piano use seven basic tone class names cyclically. Two adjacent notes with the same name are called octaves.
