At the end of the 19th century, Finland was under the rule of Russian czar, and the struggle of Finnish people against the rule of czar Russia was extremely sharp, and the national liberation movement was rising day by day. Under the situation of rising national consciousness, a strong ideological trend of revitalizing national culture has been formed in literature and art. Under the influence of this trend of thought, sibelius wrote the symphonic poem Culer Wo with vocal music in 1892 based on the 5-volume Finnish national epic Ka Laivaara, which became famous in the world. From 1893 to 1895, based on Ka Laivaara, he composed the legendary Le Minkkinen Suite, which consists of four pieces: Le Minkkinen and the Maidens on the Island, Swan in Tuoneila, Le Minkkinen in Tuoneila and Return of Minkkinen, among which Swan in Tuoneila is the most famous.
