Having studied calligraphy for more than 40 years, he attaches equal importance to creative practice and theoretical research. His works have participated in major domestic and foreign calligraphy exhibitions sponsored by the Chinese Calligraphers Association more than ten times. In 1993, he was nominated for the first Shanghai Xie Zhiliu Calligraphy Art Award. In 2006, he won the Theory Award of the Lanting Award, the second highest award for Chinese calligraphy. In the same year, the "Sun Min Calligraphy Art Award" was established and has been successfully held for nine times so far. In January 2007, he was selected as one of the "Top Ten People of the Year" in 2006 by "Calligraphy" magazine.

Sun Min has rich shipping management experience and a broad international business vision. In 2009, he was elected as the leading shipping talent in Shanghai. At the end of 2011, the current Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski personally awarded Comrade Sun Min the "Knight's Cross of the Polish Republic" during his visit to China.
