Name: Scarborough Fair

English name: Scarborough Fair

Origin:

Scarborough Fair was originally an ancient song Scottish folk riddle songs (riddle songs), the so-called "riddle songs" refer to those songs that are widely circulated among the people, but the author is unknown, and the original tune has changed a lot due to people singing to each other. Later, British folk singer Martin Carthy added his own re-creation to the original song (especially the beautiful guitar accompaniment), turning it into a very beautiful love song. Paul was on vacation in England between 1964 and 1965, and often sang in the British folk circle. After learning this song, he re-wrote the lyrics and music.

The song Scarborough Fair first became known to us when it appeared as an episode in the American movie "The Graduate". This movie was a favorite among American college students at the time, and this song and The Sound of Silence were also popular. In fact, Simon and Garfunkel's album "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme" came out at the end of 1966. The movie "The Graduate" was released in 1967 and included two of them as interludes.

Lyrics:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Are you going to Scarborough Fair?

Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,

Remember me to one who lives there, A girl,

She once was a true love of mine.

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt, (On the side of a hill in the deep forest green) (On the side of a hill in the deep forest green) Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, (Tracing of sparrow on the snow crested brown) (Tits are chasing in the snow-covered mountain forest)

Without no seams nor needle work, all seams must be sewn by hand,

(Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain ) (The military blanket covers the son of the mountain)

Then she will be a true love of mine.

(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)

Tell her to find me an acre of land, tell her to choose an acre of land for me ,

(On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves) (Raining leaves on the side of the hill)

Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, there are parsley, rat tail Grass, rosemary and thyme,

(Washes the grave with silvery tears)

Between the salt water and the sea strands, and the beach,

(A soldier cleans and polishes a gun)

Then she will be a true love of mine. will become my sweetheart.

Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather,

(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalion)

Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, Generals order their soldiers to kill and to fight for a cause ) (The commander gave the order to open fire

And gather it all in a bunch of heather, and then use a bunch of heather to tie up all the crops,

(for a cause they have long ago forgotten)

Then she will be a true love of mine.

(Sleeps. unaware of the clarion call)

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?

Parsley , sage, rosemary and thyme, there is parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,

Remember me to one who lives there, give my regards to a girl there,

She once was a true love of mine.
