Qian Zhou, head of the Department of String Strings and professor of violin, is active in today’s world music scene as a well-known performer and educator, and was hailed as an “outstanding world-class performer” by the authoritative international music magazine “The Strad”; Qin Liwei, professor of cello, is a well-known performer and educator in today’s world music scene. One of the most outstanding cellists in the world, "The New York Times" once commented that his performance "has flawless pitch, steely technique and soft tone"; Brass & Percussion Department Chair Brett Steinberg ( Dr. Brett Stemple, who is also majoring in philosophy, music history and comparative literature.
