Alex To was born in Hong Kong on February 10, 1962. He is of Chinese, Spanish and Filipino descent. He is a Chinese-pop male singer, musician and actor. He graduated from the Business Design Department of the Toronto Institute of Technology.

In 1985, after returning from studying in Canada, he participated in the 4th Hong Kong Rookie Singing Competition and won the first prize. Later, he entered the entertainment industry and signed a contract with China Star Records.
