Song background
This is a cover song based on the lyrics of the single "Take Me Home Country Roads" released by American country folk singer John Denver in 1971. Yoko, whose real name is Yoko, voices the heroine "Tsukishima Shizuku" in the anime.
The lyrics were mainly rewritten by Mashiko Suzuki, the daughter of the animation producer Toshio Suzuki, and Hayao Miyazaki, one of the production members, also assisted in supplementing the lyrics.
