Zhu Fangqiong served as a soldier, taught, and worked as a folk singer, rock musician, recording engineer and music producer
. He began to publish musical works in the mid-1990s.
Served as a soldier in the South China Sea Fleet from 1990 to 1994. During this period, in 1993, he assisted the earliest group of rock youth in Guangzhou as a friend.
Built the recording studio of the folk music group "Music Commune" (but he did not join their creative activity group). After retiring from the army in 1994, he came to live in Guangzhou and began to create music. From the beginning, he paid attention to exploring the folk music elements of his northwest hometown. In 1996, he and Wang Lei established the "Longmin Music" studio. At the end of 1997, two of his songs "Fire Dance" and "Land" were included in the collection of creative music "Pinyin" published by "Longmin Music". In 1998, I went to live in Beijing and communicated with young musicians from all over the world. During this period, he returned to Guangzhou twice to participate in the "New Forces of Chinese Music" Music Festival and the "In the Name of Music" Music Festival. From 1999 to 2001, he returned to Guangzhou as a bass player and participated in many of Wang Lei's performances across the country.
In 2002, he established the "Xitian Music Studio" to cooperate with various artists, and began to get involved in various contemporary arts from the perspective of music and sound, including dance, film and television, installation sculpture, etc.
In 2003, he published his independently produced personal music album "Up to the West".
After 2006, an open art performance group was gradually formed in some performances and work: "Zhu Fangqiong and His Friends" Orchestra; a "Xitian Yuefu" musical instrument studio; and "Three-person working group".
In 2008, the music collection "Kill Your Dreams" was released.
