Graduated from the Vocal Music Department of Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1963 and has stayed at the school to teach ever since. He once served as the head of the vocal music department and deputy dean of teaching at Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and served as the dean of Tianjin Conservatory of Music from 1990 to 1997. Now he is a professor of vocal music and a master's tutor.
As a baritone singer, he participated in many concert performances from the 1960s to the mid-1990s, held several solo concerts in Tianjin and Japan, and also performed in the United States, Ukraine, Lectures and singing in Malaysia. The China Record Company once recorded a LP "The Sea" for him, which included nine Chinese and foreign songs.
The students he has trained as a vocal teacher over the years include Lin Jinyuan of the Central Opera House, Liu Yueming of the China Opera House, associate professors Yang Haiyan, Yang Baoli, Li Qingzi, Wang Chang of Tianjin Conservatory of Music, lecturers Wang Ying, Cao Junling, etc. people. Many of the students have won awards abroad and domestically. In terms of theoretical research and commentary on vocal music, he has written and published monographs "Vocal Music Teaching Methods", "Morning Sound 69 Vocals Combining Vocal Exercises", "Basics of Vocal Music", and has published many papers and reviews in core journals and national newspapers. Among them, "Vocal Music Teaching Method" won the third prize of the National Ministry of Education's Scientific Research Award. His long essay "Should we part ways, or reach the same destination by different paths" won the first prize for literary criticism in 2003 from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The Vocal Music Theory Research Laboratory led by him has published a review of national vocal music papers every year since its establishment eight years ago, and has published six monographs and textbooks and many paper reviews. In 2003, he successfully launched and hosted the “2003 Six-tone Vocal Paper”.
Professor Shi Weizheng has been invited to give lectures at more than 20 art schools, including the China Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Beijing University for Nationalities, Wuhan, Sichuan, Xinghai, Xi'an, and other conservatories. He has served as a vocal judge for TV Grand Prix, overseas competition selections, Golden Bell Awards, etc. for many times.
